Abstract
1,269,967. Storage water heater. PATTERSON-KELLEY CO. Inc. 22 Sept., 1969, No. 46649/69. Heading F4A. A water heater comprises a tank 10 having an immersion heater 14 housed within a shroud 16 open at its inner end and having connections to a hot water outlet 32, to a pump 36 which circulates hot water into the lower part of the tank and to a conduit which delivers hot water to mix with the dold water flowing through inlet pipe 12 into the bottom of the tank, and a heat supply regulator 28 which responds to the water temperature near the hot water outlet 32. The immersion heater comprises a bank of steam tubes 14 which open into a horizontally partitioned bonnet 22 having an inlet duct 24 and condensate trap 26, and the shroud and tubes support baffles 19. A manifold 30 containing a thermostat 44 connects the shroud to the hot water outlet 32 and via a conduit 34 to a Venturi inductor 50 in the cold water feed-pipe and the pump 36. Water is circulated through the shroud, and thus heated, by the pump 36 and discharged through a pipe 38 and a spreader 40 into the bottom of the tank. When cold water flows through the pipe 12 and the Venturi inductor 50, Fig. 3 (not shown), hot water is drawn through the pipe 34 to blend with it. Alternatively the immersion heater may be electric.
