Class 100(1) The sheet feeding apparatus described in the parent Specification is modified in that the lever adapted to raise the free end of each sheet-gripper leaf spring on the gripper bar is a double-ended lever, one end of the lever being positioned under the free end of the leaf spring, and the other end being situated clear of the spring and disposed laterally thereof. As shown, each gripper spring 4 on the transverse gripper bar 1 is secured to the bar at the leading end 3, and the free end 5, which is adapted to grip a sheet 6 against the trailing end 2 of the bar, is disposed over the load arm 9 of a double-ended lever 8 situated in a transverse recess in the bar. The lever 8 is pivoted at 11 in the recess, and the work arm 10 thereof is adapted to be depressed, to open the gripper, by a reciprocating pin 12 at the sheet receiving end releasing points. In a modification, the lever 8 rocks about the bottom of its recess, and the pivot pin 11 may be omitted.
