Abstract

A flux material comprises in percentages by weight: zinc oxide 10-20, zinc chloride 50-70, ammonium chloride 2-5, sodium fluoride 1-3, water 15-20. The material is fused during brazing an aluminium part to a copper part, the zinc chloride reacting with the aluminium to form aluminium chloride and zinc, the latter providing the brazing metal. Cadmium compounds and wetting agents may be added to the material. Specification 778,391 [Group XXII] is referred to.
