Abstract
817,987. Shaft couplings. SOC. DES MECANIQUES VERDOL. March 29, 1957 [April 12, 1956], No. 10395/57. Class 80 (2). [Also in Group IX] In a double-twist spindle for twisting yarns (see Group IX), a rotary shaft 5, having an axis O, drives an eccentric drum 10, having an axis P, through a homokinetic coupling. Shaft 5 and drum 10 rotate in bearings 4, 9, respectively, on a column 2 mounted on a supporting iron 1. A ring 22 is also rotatable on a bearing 23 on column 2, about an axis R in the plane of and midway between the axes 0, P. Ring 22 has bifurcated projections 22a which engage respectively a roller 23 on a pin 24 secured to a flange 10a of drum 10 and a roller 26 on a pin 27 secured to a plate 29 keyed to shaft 5, the distance of pins 24, 27 from their respective rotational axes P, 0 being equal. Alternative homokinetic connections between the shaft and the drum are indicated in Figs. 4-6, 110 and 129 denoting the paths of pins 124, 127, respectively carried by the drum and the shaft. In Fig. 4, a link 33 connects pins 124, 127 and additional links 133, 233 are provided. In Fig. 5, each pin 124 on the drum engages the inner surface of a ring 34 carried by the shaft. In Fig. 6, a single link 33 is solid with an arm 35 at right-angles thereto forming part of a pamllelo. gram motion.
