Abstract

1,149,297. Bearings. SCHWERMASCHINENBAU ERNST TH€LMANN VEB. 4 May, 1967, No. 20834/67. Heading F2A. [Also in Division D1] A vibration-free U-shaped bobbin frame 1 for a high speed stranding machine is mounted inside a cylindrical rotor of the machine (not shown) by means of resiliently supported bearings 6 on two pivot pins 7 and 8. The longitudinal axes of these pins are coaxial with the axis rotor but the U-shaped frame does not rotate due to its centre of gravity being below the axis. The two arms of the U-shaped frame are in the form of a split housing for the resiliently supported bearings. The bearings 6 are mounted within bushes 3, 4 (which are a press fit on to bearings) and have radial holes therein. Each bearing housing 1 has radial recesses in radial alignment with the holes and each hole and recess receives a spring 5. The springs 5 press on the outer surface of the roller bearing 6 so that there is a uniform annular clearance 15 between the bearing housing 1 and the bushes 3, 4. The springs 5 can, alternatively, be made of rubber. The frame can be axially located by flexible rings 11 engaging between the bearing housing and the bushes 3, 4.
