817,459. Ironing presses. GRIMSLEY & CO. LEICESTER Ltd. March 6, 1958 [Oct. 30, 1957], No. 33888/57. Class 138 (2). A device for adjusting the relative angles of the top and bottom bucks of a garment press comprises a pivoted connection in the form of studs 17 in plummer blocks 18 between the lever arm 5 and the top buck 3, which can be locked in a desired position by means of bolts 20. To adjust the angle of the top buck, bolts 20 are released and hand knob 25 turned to rotate tierod 24 which is free to rotate but cannot move axially in sleeve 22. The thread of the tie-rod moves socket 26 to left or right and thus, through bell-crank 27a, 27b and link 29 moves bracket 30 which is attached near the edge of the buck, so tilting the buck about the pivot 17. When the desired angle is reached bolts 20 clamp the buck with respect to lever arm 5. The machine includes provision for adjusting the daylight in the fully closed position and has counterweights 9 pivoted at 10 in place of the usual fixed weights.
