[Also in Group XXIX] A fluid-flow control means in which a spring- loaded, flexible, non-elastic diaphragm f separates inlet and outlet chambers b, c, and the tapered end of a plug d secured to the casing extends through a hole in a rigid disc secured to the diaphragm for controlling flow through the hole with movement of the diaphragm, and the annular portion of diaphragm between the disc and casing assumes a U-form, has a hollow, rigid, cylindrical trunk e attached to the diaphragm in the outlet chamber which seats at h on a seating i around the outlet when inlet pressure deflects the diaphragm sufficiently whereby fluid is trapped in the annular space between the trunk and casing to prevent rupture of the diaphragm.
