Abstract
875,297. Valves. ROLLS-ROYCE Ltd. Dec. 4, 1959 [Dec. 17, 1958], No. 40815/58. Class 135. A by-pass valve unit 17, arranged in a bypass 16 of a pump 11, comprises two chambers 19, 20 connected by concentric passages 21, 22. A first valve member 23, provided with an aperture 23a, normally closes the outer annular passage 21 while a second valve member 25 closes the central passage 22. An excess pressure on the pump outlet side is by-passed to the inlet through passage 16b, chamber 20, annular passage 21, valve 23, chamber 19 and passage 16a while in the event of pump failure fluid can by-pass the pump through passage 16a, chamber 19, aperture 23a, central passage 22, valve 25, chamber 20 and passage 16b.
