Abstract
815,953. Endless-belt conveyers. SILVER ENGINEERING WORKS Inc. Sept. 12, 1957 [Sept. 13, 1956], No. 28741/57. Class 78 (1). A self-propelled machine 1, Fig. 1, for preliminary cleaning and piling root crops, e.g. sugar beet or potatoes, is provided with a hopper 5 into which the roots are dumped by a truck and from which they are carried by an endless belt conveyer 6 on to screening devices 20, 21, Fig. 2. The roots pass from the screen 21 through a shoot 8 on to an adjustable boom conveyer 31 by which they are arranged in heaps on the ground. The dirt and trash fall from the screens into a hopper 22 and are carried by an endless belt conveyer 29, Fig. 4, to a truck 40. The return run of the belt 6 is passed round cleaning rollers 11, 12, 13 from which the dirt falls into a hopper 23 and is conveyed therefrom by an endless belt 24 to the hopper 22. The belt 24 is cleaned by a scraper plate assembly 27 which also distributes the dirt on the belt 29. An auxiliary belt 14 raises the roots up the inclined section 7 of the belt 6. Covers 30, 37 may be mounted above the belts 6, 29.
