Abstract
815,650. Twist-tubes. SCRAGG & SONS Ltd., E., SCRAGG, E. P. R., and NAVA, M. March 8, 1957 [March 8, 1956; April 3, 1956], Nos. 7253/56 and 10053/56. Class 120(2) A false-twisting spindle comprises a hollow tube having, at the yarn outlet end, two diametrically opposed hooks through one of which yarn is passed at an inclination to the tube axis, crosses the end of the tube and is engaged by the opposite hook, then leaves the spindle: when the spindle is rotated, the hooks are moved outwards by centrifugal forces thereby tensioning the running yarn to prevent slip and loss of twist. As shown in Figs. 1 and 3, a tube 10 terminates in a portion 11 comprising slots 12 and holes 13 which house bent steel wires 14 each forming a hook 16; a sleeve 17 fits over the portion 11 and secures the wires 14 on to the tube 10. In another modification, Fig. 4, a tube 18 comprises a head 19 a shoulder 20 of which supports a circular steel wire loop 20 integral with which are elements 22 and hooks 23: a sleeve 24 secures the loop 21 and elements 22 which are housed in slots 25. Recesses 27 facilitate yarn threading and the yarn is protected by a porcelain eyelet 26.
