815,599. Centrifugal governors. HOOF PRODUCTS CO. Dec. 14, 1955 [Jan. 20, 1955], No. 35831/55. Class 57. A centrifugal governor comprises fly-weights 33 which are pivoted at 32 on a member 29 keyed to the governor shaft 21 and act through arms 38 on a sleeve 34 slidable on the shaft; the sleeve operates a rocker shaft 41 through a bifurcated arm 40 and an operating lever 44 on the rocker-shaft outside the governor casing 15 is connected at its longer end to the carburetter of an engine and at its shorter end to loading springs 67, 68 through a link 70 which is adjustable in a slot 49 in the shorter arm to vary the leverage of the shorter arm. Adjustment of the link 70 in the slot 49 is provided by a rotatable flanged pin 51 having a toothed portion 55 engaging rack teeth 50 on one side of the slot and the pin is held in adjusted position by a nut 76. The opening 72 in the link 70 to accommodate the plain portion 57 of the pin is oversize or eccentric in order to allow slight play between the two parts. The springs 67, 68 are attached at their outer ends to a yoke 66 pivoted at 65 on an arm 60 which is pivoted on the casing 15 at 61 and has a shoulder engaged by a screw 73 by means of which the arm 60 can be pivoted clockwise so that the tension of the springs is increased by moving their outer ends further from the points at .which they are attached to the link 70.
