Abstract
441,403. Driving dynamos. LUCAS, Ltd., J., and MASON, S. A., Great King Street, Birmingham. July 20, 1934, No. 21307. [Class 35] A cycle dynamo pivotally supported on a spindle passing into or through one end of the dynamo body with a spring surrounding the enclosed part of the spindle, has means carried by the spindle for preventing movement of the dynamo into the operative position, and the arrangement is such that the relative movement between the said means and the dynamo, or a part carried thereby, for permitting the dynamo to move towards its operative position can be effected without varying the angular position of the dynamo on the spindle. In the form shown, the dynamo is held in its inoperative position by the engagement of a pawl t on a lever s pivoted on the dynamo body with a shoulder q on a catch plate p secured to one end of the spindle e. It is released from this position by moving a lever s against the action of a spring u to permit the spring h to swing the dynamo. In a modified form, a pin passing through the spindle projects into an L-shaped slot on a member secured to the dynamo body and the dynamo is moved in the axial direction of the spindle to inaugurate its movement to the operative position.
