Abstract

815,463. Cables. HENLEY'S TELEGRAPH WORKS CO. Ltd., W. T., SALVAGE, B. F., SMITH, E. A., and HEINRICH, R. F. Nov. 25, 1955 [Nov. 26, 1954], No. 34418/54. Class 36. A cable for use in a high voltage electrostatic precipitator is provided with a conductor comprising two or more layers in parallel, each layer comprising at least one helically wound bare conductor applied in the opposite direction to a conductor in the next layer. Each layer may contain up to six wires wound as a multistart coil. The layer 11 is wound on an insulating core 10 and enclosed in a semi-conductive separating layer 12 over which the outer layer 13 is wound in the opposite direction. The wires of each layer are united at each end of the cable by a metal ring, and the rings at each end are themselves united. A further semi-conductiye layer 15 is applied followed by insulation 16, screen 17, sheathing 18 and armouring and serving 19.
