Abstract

814,773. Harvesting root-crops. RAE, J. S. Dec. 4, 1957 [Dec. 10, 1956], No.37592/56. Class 6(3). An apparatus for picking up previously-dug root-crops from the ground comprises a frame 4 carrying an endless slatted conveyer 8, 8a having a horizontal end portion 8a, beneath a platform 10 on which pickers can lie to lift the crop from the ground on to the conveyer, and an inclined portion 8 for elevating the lifted crop to a discharge position. The machine is mounted by one vertically-adjustable wheel 5 and one or more further wheels, or, as shown, by the wheel 5 and the power-lift links of the towing tractor through the bracket 7. The conveyer is driven from the tractor through a shaft 15 and chain 14. The platform is rearwardly inclined and has foot rests for pickers. A discharge shoot 21 and bagging platform 12 are provided. One end bearing 17 for the conveyer is adjustable.
