Abstract
814,004. Tents; greenhouses. HARKNESS Ltd., A. S. Sept. 26, 1956 [March 6, 1956], No. 6977/56. Class 20(1) A shelter comprises a framework with a pliable synthetic plastic sheet disposed over it in the fashion of a skin and resilient means for keeping the skin taut and secured to the framework. As shown, the framework is made of metallic tubing and comprises half loops 1 secured, such as by welding or by spigot and socket joints, to a rectangular base 2. A sheet 5 of plastic material, e.g. of polyvinyl chloride, covers the roof 3 and sides 4, at least one end of the sheet being passed around base frame member 2 and anchored to the half loops 1 to keep the cover taut, the anchoring being effected by spring coupling members 12 which engage a batten 9 mounted in a sleeve 7 at the end of the sheet and accessible through holes 10. The sheet may be transparent.
