Abstract

812,693. Work-holders. SPA & FILS. Aug. 12, 1955 [Aug. 26, 1954], No. 23251/55. Class 83 (3). A clamp for use in the milling of the bearing surface A, Figs. 1-3, of a carding engine flat, comprises two fixed members 2 supporting a bridge-piece 8, against the underside of which the frame 15 of the flat can be clamped. The frame is clamped between bevelled jaws 14, one of which is manually adjustable. The projecting end of the frame is supported by two jaws 17 mounted on eccentrically-adjustable pivots 18, and clamped by a screw 21. Packing- pieces 5 may be removed so that the flat may be reversed and clamped to the top of the bridge while the surface B is milled. In a modification, the frame is clamped by a pin 30, Fig. 7, moved axially by a bevelled-screw 32, the projecting end of the frame being supported by a similar pin-and-screw.
