Abstract

Vice for fixing bar material on the work table of machine tools has clamping jaws which can move on a table. The table (1) of the vice has a guide (2) running transverse to the workpiece axis for two opposite slides (3) which are comparable with the table surface. One of the slides is guided so that it can be adjusted by a device (15) outside the table face. The tool-gripping clamping jaws (6) sit on supports (5) fixed to the slides (3) which in the table middle are covered by a plate (1a) which forms the workpiece support and at their outer ends are secured in their guide (2) by other holding mechanisms (9).
