Abstract
812,472. Hinges. STAPLES & CO. Ltd., and HEAL, R. G. July 9, 1957 [July 9, 1956; Sept. 12, 1956], Nos. 21167/56 and 27926/56. Class 65(2) [Also in Group XIV] A hinge connecting the back and seat of a divan convertible into a bed is such that on lowering the back 19 the rear end of the seat 20 is raised so that the seat assumes a horizontal position. The hinge comprises a plate 29 to which are pivoted flaps 25, 27. The plate 29 carries a sleeve or slideway 32. In use the flap 27 is secured to a fixed base, the flap 25 to the seat 19 and a rod 35 or like member attached to the back 19 is engaged by the sleeve or slideway 32. Instead of sleeve 32, the hinge may carry a hookshaped pin engaging a socket on the backrest.
