Abstract
812,258. Batch mixing machines. STORA KOPPARBERGS BERGSLAGS A.B. Nov. 5, 1957 [Nov. 9, 1956], No. 34467/57. Class 86 [Also in Groups XII and XXXIV] A rotary furnace or batch-type concrete mixer comprises a drum 1 carrying a ring 2 having treads 3 engaged by four support rollers, a front pair 6<SP>1</SP> and a rear pair 6<SP>11</SP>, carried by shafts 7 journalled in bearings mounted on a cradle 11, and a hydraulic motor 20 mounted in the cradle and driving the rear rollers 6<SP>11</SP> through the shafts 7. The cradle 11 surrounds the drum, and is pivoted for tilting about a horizontal axis on a pair of trunnions 12 in stationary bearings 13. Four sets of rollers 16 engaging the side of the treads 3 are evenly spaced around the cradle, Fig 2 (not shown), and further idle rollers, similar to 6' and 6<SP>11</SP>, engage the upper part of the treads 3. The driving fluid is supplied to and exhausted from the motor through one of the trunnions 12 via pipes 45 and 21 and 22 and 46 respectively. The said trunnion 12, Fig. 3, has bores 25 and 26 registering respectively with inlet and outlet ducts 33 and 34 in a head 30. The latter has a sleeve member 35 formed with grooves 36 and 37 registering with peripheral openings 38 and 39 to said ducts and connected to the stationary pipes 45 and 46. The joints between the rotary and stationary members comprise O-rings 42. The head 30 is held against the trunnion by an end plate 43 and a bolt 31. The direction of rotation of the drum is changed by reversing the fluid flow through pipes 45 and 46. The use of the special trunnion may be avoided by connecting the fluid supply pipes direct to the pipes 21 and 22 by flexible pipes to allow for tilting movements of the cradle.
