Abstract

747,639. Concrete mixers. DIXON, HAWKSWORTH, Ltd. Sept. 8, 1954 [Sept. 8, 1953], No. 24781/53. Class 86. In a concrete mixer, a drum A is secured to a shaft a rotatably mounted in a cradle B and the shaft a is driven from the source of power through a shaft D<SP>1</SP> having universal joints at its ends. The drive is transmitted to the shaft a through a worm and worm wheel. The cradle B is mounted on shafts b<SP>1</SP>, D, the shaft b<SP>1</SP> carrying a handwheel E by which the mixer may be tilted and the shaft D carrying a pulley d to which power is transmitted by a belt d<SP>1</SP>. The universal joints may have a non-uniform velocity ratio to facilitate mixing.
