Abstract
757,010. Concrete mixers. BLAW-KNOX CO. Oct. 6, 1954 [Oct. 7, 1953], No. 28777/54. Class 86. A truck-mounted concrete mixer in which the parts are arranged on a rectangular supporting frame 2 secured to the truck chassis so as to give the assembly a low centre of gravity comprises a water tank 3 mounted directly on said frame transversely across the end thereof nearer to the forward end of the truck, a pedestal 5 being disposed within the tank and carrying a bearing 6 which rotatably carries the forward closed end of the mixing drum 7. The rear end of the drum is supported by rollers 8. The drum 7 is mounted with its axis slightly to one side of the longitudinal middle line of frame 2 so that, in use, when the drum contents tends to collect more on the upward moving side of the drum, the combined centre of gravity of the drum and contents will coincide with said middle line. The drum is driven by an engine 14 which is coupled by a shaft 15, 17, 19 to a transmission 20 on the output shaft of which is a sprocket 22 carrying a chain 24 which engages with the drum sprocket 23. The transmission input shaft 19 has a pulley 38 which drives a water pump 35 through a V-belt 37, the pump delivering water from tank 3 to drum 7 either for flushing purposes or to form a component of the mixture, in which case a measured quantity is delivered.
