Abstract
338,961. Paris, H. P. Aug. 29, 1929. Rotary mixers. - A concrete mixer of the kind comprising an elongatedrotary drum mounted on a tiltable sub-frame on a motorvehicle has a charging and discharging orifice at its rear end so as to be rotatable during the charging and discharging operations; the drum is fitted with two sets of mixing vanes, and the water tanks are also mounted on the sub-frame. The drum 1 is supported on rollers 21 mounted in frame members 20 on a sub-frame 2 pivoted at its rear end to the main frame 3 of the motor-vehicle. It is tilted by means of lifting mechanism 9 and, in the form shown, is rotated by chain gearing driven from the prime mover through a telescopic shaft 6. The rear end of the drum is open and truncated, and is fitted with a door 11. The water tanks 7, connected by a pipe 71, are mounted on the frame members 20, and are discharged by the operation of a cock 74. The driving mechanism may comprise a shaft coaxial with the pivot 23 and driving the drum by worm or chain gearing. The drum may be driven directly by the rear axle, through clutch and chain gearing, the axle being raised to effect rotation of the drum while the vehicle is at rest. The drum is fitted with oppositely inclined blades 19, 19<a> and with radial rods 19<b>, Fig. 11, to effect the mixing.
