Abstract

811,167. Valve amplifying circuits; limiters. S.I.R.E.L.E.C. July 11, 1955, No. 20064/55. Class 40 (6). In a push-pull directcurrent amplifier the balance is improved by using a number of valves, 4-7 and 4<SP>1</SP>-7<SP>1</SP> respectively, connected in parallel in each side; all valves are taken from the same production batch with the object of averaging out individual variations in characteristics. The output of a source 1 is fed through a resistance 2 to a condenser 3, from which balanced voltages are applied to the amplifier by means of an earthed centretap comprising condensers 8, 9 and leak resistors 11, 12. Negative feedback is applied to each side of the amplifier by means of adjustable cathode resistors 13, 14 and a balancing potentiometer 15, the slider of which is connected to the negative supply line. Each screen-grid is fed through its own dropping resistor from a stabilized power supply 16-19. The anode loads comprise resistors 26, 26<SP>1</SP> and a balancing potentiometer 25, the slider of which is connected to the anode power supply 20-24. The output terminals 28, 28<SP>1</SP> are connected to the valve anodes via resistors 35, 35<SP>1</SP> respectively, across which stabilized power supplies 29-34 and 29<SP>1</SP>-34<SP>1</SP> respectively produce fixed voltages which balance out the standing positive voltages at the respective anodes. The output is limited by means of a pair of diodes 36, 36<SP>1</SP> which are cross-coupled between each anode and the opposite output terminal.
