Abstract

Apparatus for heat treating a horizontally movable web 1 comprises upper and lower blowers 3 supplying steam or hot air (see also Group XIII) via nozzle chambers 4 to nozzles 8 which extend across the whole width of the fabric, and is characterized by the provision of annular diffusers 5, concentric with the axes of the blowers, which cause the gas to flow in the direction of the arrows into the chambers 4 which are tapered in cross-section to form channels securing a flow from the nozzles 8 of steady and uniform velocity. The chambers 6 extend along the transverse walls of each such treating section over the entire width of the chambers 4, and the gas is re-circulated through heaters 9. <PICT:0810564/IV (c)/1>
