Abstract
810.019. Sintering machines. METALLGESELLSCHAFT A. G. Dec. 10, 1957 [Jan. 8, 1957]. No. 38429/57. Class 82(1) Green pellets formed from fine-grained material are sintered by heating a layer of pellets in a moving pallet having grate bars which are supported on hollow beams through which a cooling medium is passed to minimize damage to the bars by overheating. As shown, a pallet mounted by axles 3 on rollers 1 to run on tracks 2, has grate bars 6 fitted to T-shaped flanges 9 of the hollow beams 7a which are cooled by the passage of air flowing in opposite directions through adjacent beams. The air is supplied by the same blowers that are used to create the suction in the chamber 10, and the heated air may be used as preheated air applied to the pellets during sintering.
