Abstract

809,185. Vehicle couplings. NATIONAL MALLEABLE & STEEL CASTINGS CO. April 24, 1957 [May 31, 1956], No. 13036/57. Class 103(5) To prevent the operating rod 5 of a pulled out coupler 2 unlocking the coupler and allowing it to fall on the track. The inboard end of the rod 5 has a hook 14 which can fall free of the rotor member 16 when the coupler reaches the position shown in Fig. 4. The rotor member 16 (Fig. 9) has a wall 24c against which the lower end of the hook 14 abuts to effect normal unlocking and the rod 5 rests on the top 28a of the wall 28. When the coupler assumes the position shown in Fig. 4 the wall 28 no longer supports the rod 5 which is free to drop away through the slot 38.
