Abstract
1,129,828. Railway vehicle automatic couplers. MIDLAND-ROSS CORP. 22 March, 1966 [1 April, 1965], No. 12539/66. Heading B7T. A railway vehicle coupler generally as de. scribed in U.K. Specification 942,514 is modified by enlarging slot 42 in the lock 8 with a downwardly extending recess 41 which receives the shaft of rotor 9 when the coupling is inverted. Shoulders 36 and 33 formed on the top of the lock and the top wall 27 of the head 6 also engage during inversion. In the coupled position the fin 45, which is free of aperture 46, and the tooth 18, which has a vertical face 25 of length greater than the clearance 28 between the lock and wall 27, permit the lock to move upward. A rib 89 integral with the rear wall of the head prevents rearward movement of the rotor 9. The pad 73 of the lock set piece 10 is formed with a lug (72), Fig. 12 (not shown), which engages the lock in its rearward position to prevent sideways movement of the pad.
