808,650. Capsuling bottles. LYNCH, E. J. April 17, 1957 [April 30, 1956], No. 12554/57. Class 125(2). A bottle-corking machine, having a corking plunger 8 mounted on a sliding carriage 6 lowered by operation of a handle 26 and raised by a counterweight and a cork-compressor mounted on a bracket 3, is converted for crowning by removing the compressor and fitting a crowning die having a magnet for retaining the crown and actuated by the handle and sliding carriage. There is a clearance space between the magnet and the top of the crown. As shown, the die 30 with its permanent magnet 33 is carried on the undersurface of a plate 31 resiliently mounted on bracket 3 and engaged by the lower end of plunger 8 when handle 26 is actuated for crowning. In modifications, the die is mounted on the bottom of plunger 8 or on a stem replacing the plunger.
