Class 125(ii) In a capsuling machine in which a sealing head 3 descends (Fig. 1) so that a pressure member 7 presses on the top of the neck of a container 1 loosely. carrying a capsule whereupon rollers 13 ride up a cam 14 on the head 3 so as to force spinning wheels 12 inwards to apply the capsule, the force required to move the rollers 13 up the cam is prevented from being transmitted through the member 7 to the container neck. To effect this, the stroke of the member 7 is limited by the provision of a slot 18 in its plunger 4, a pin 17 fixed to the frame of the machine engaging the top of the slot at the appropriate point. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), in which the sealing head is stationary and the container rest is moved up, when the rest reaches a certain height it contacts a lug which is moved upwardly with the rest to move a lever arrangement having an extension engaging the plunger of the pressure head so that it relieves the extra stress on the plunger spring. In a further modification (Fig. 3) the plunger 4 of the head 7 is moved against fluid pressure in a cylinder 27. When the head 7 has been moved far enough a projection 31 on the piston 26 enters a bore 32 in the cylinder 27 thus reducing the effective area of the piston 26 and, therefore, the resistance to the plunger and head 7. No extra pressure is thus applied to the container neck during movement of the rollers 13 up the cam 14. In this modification the container rest is also raised by fluid pressure. This fluid control system may also be applied to machines wherein the head is lowered towards the container. The arms carrying the spinning wheels may lie in a horizontal plane. Several sealing heads may be mounted either side by side or on a rotating capsuling machine.
