Abstract

808,326. Semi-rotary motors. SHAFER, H. J. Aug. 27, 1956, No. 26139/56. Class 110 (2). A rotary motor of the oscillating-vane type for operating valves in high-pressure pipe lines is provided with inlet or exhaust conduits 47, 48 controlled by valves 60 carried by the vanes 34 and is also provided with adjustable stops 57 for the vanes carried by abutments 38, 38<SP>1</SP>. Each vane and each abutment contains a resilient seal 36 or 41 of rounded cross-section which is provided with sharp squared-off projecting corners to tightly fit in the corners of the housing walls (see Fig. 7, not shown). The seals are made of synthetic plastic material or synthetic rubber whilst the valve 60 is made of a resilient oil-resistant material such as Neoprene. The motor may be manually rotated by a worm and worm wheel drive releasably keyed to the rotor shaft (see Fig. 4, not shown) which is also provided with passages 42, 43 for interconnecting the working chambers of the motor.
