807,927. Valve gear AUSTIN MOTOR CO. Ltd., and WEAVING, J. H. June 18, 1957 [May 8, 1956], No. 14199/56. Class 7(6) In an overhead valve, overhead camshaft engine, the valves are operated through tapered levers 17 which are adjustable lengthwise to adjust clearance, each lever 17 having a spindle 16 passing through a spherical bearing member 18 resting in a spherical seat in a bracket 20. The bearing member 18 js held against its seat by a spring 25 urging the lever to the left, the end of the spindle being provided with adjusting and lock nuts 23, 24. By adjustment of the nut 23 the lever 17 can be adjusted lengthwise to decrease or increase the clearance. Guide means may be provided to prevent rotation of the lever 17 during its pivotal movement.
