Abstract

The invention comprises compounds, capable of inhibiting the growth of tumours, of the formula <FORM:0805518/IV (b)/1> wherein Z is hydrogen, an alkyl radical of 1-4 carbon atoms, chlorine or bromine, X is the residue of a hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated benzene nucleus or an alkyl substituted or endomethylene derivative of such a nucleus and R is hydrogen or an alkyl group of 1-4 carbon atoms, and comprises also the preparation of these compounds by treating the appropriate quinone with ethylene-imine or an alkyl substituted derivative of ethylene-imine, the reaction being carried out in the manner described in the parent Specification. In an example, 5:6:7:8 - tetrahydronaphthoquinone-(1:4) is treated with ethylene-imine to give 2-aziridino-5:6:7:8 - tetrahydronaphthoquinone-(1:4).
