804,840. Extensible rods. GRANT, A. D. May 6, 1957 [May 4, 1956], No. 13836/56. Class 20(1) An extensible rod-assembly of the type wherein the ends are forced against parallel opposed surfaces comprises a rod 1 with a pair of end-fittings 2, 3 provided on their outer faces with resilient annular pads 5, 9 to engage the surfaces, one of the end fitting consisting of two interthreaded parts 4, 6 so that their relative rotation alters the overall length of the assembly, and the other end-fitting 3 consisting of a tubular socket which receives the end of the rod 1 together with one or more tubular distance-pieces 10, 11, 12. The end of the rod which enters the socket 6 is formed with slots 8 which engage lugs 7 within the socket 6. The part 6 carries an external male thread which engages a female thread in the part 4.
