[Also in Group XXIX] In a motor driven compressor as claimed in the parent Specification the cylinder cover 5 is so designed that its peripheral surface 26 extending from the front face containing the suction valve aperture 9 forms with the inside wall of the cylinder head end 3, or with the wall of a special cover optionally provided for closing the cylinder head end, a cavity R which is in communication (e.g. via radial bores 28) with the suction valve channel 7 and also (e.g. via a slot-like opening 27 and a chamber 20a in a connecting member 23) with a chamber 22a in the motor support 18 leading (via ducts not shown) to the suction silencer S.
