Abstract

803,878. Electric heating resistances. KANTHAL, A. B. July 23, 1956 [July 28, 1955], No. 22741/56. Class 39(3) [Also in Group XXII] A terminal 14 is secured to each end of a helically coiled resistance heating element by inserting a cylindrical portion 14a of the terminal 14 into the wire helix 12 forming the heating element and electrical resistance welding the helix 12 to the portion 14a by spaced electrodes engaging the outer surface of the helix 12 and positioned sideby-side. Current is passed for a brief interval so that the surface only of the wire is fused. The helix 12 is surrounded by a compacted mass of insulating material and enclosed in a tubular sheath.
