803,792. Measuring radio interference; testing aerials. SIEMENS & HALSKE A.G. April 27, 1955 [April 30, 1954], No. 12169/55. Classes 40 (5) and 40 (7). Radio interference from a source S is measured at a receiver E in a chamber 1 and the chamber side-walls or lateral boundaries of the path between the source Sand receiver E are covered with radio wave absorbing material 3 to prevent reflected energy affecting the measurements. Moreover, the chamber ends behind the source S or receiver E may be parabolic or ellipsoidal surfaces of revolution or cylinders to focus radiation on them only towards the receiver E, and in addition a reflector in front of the source S and/or receiver R may prevent direct transfer of radiation, or the end walls may only have wave-absorbing material. The absorbing material may be applied on to acoustic absorbing material or may be graphite or other material impregnated in the sound-absorbing material, the latter having conical projections. It may be in several layers of varying conductivities. The chamber walls may be adjustable and the chamber 1 may be vertically located in a staircase well.
