Abstract

917,557. Radar. ELTRO GES. FUR STRAHLUNGSTECHNIK. Feb. 11, 1959 [Feb. 12, 1958], No. 4860/59. Class 40 (7). In a detector for non-metallic land wires, electromagnetic energy is transmitted into the ground and part is reflected upwards from the wire due to the boundary charge of dielectric constant at the wire. Energy from klystron 6 is transmitted to the ground surface by the horn 5. Reflections from the target are directed to the receiver by the horn 7. The relative position of 5 and 7 are adjusted by the screws 2 and 2<SP>1</SP>. The klystron output may be heterodyned with a low-frequency signal or itself varied periodically.
