1,115,129. Impedance measurements. ELTRO G.m.b.H. & CO. GESELLSCHAFT FœR STRAHLUNGSTECHNIK. April 28, 1966 [June 18, 1965], No.3063/68. Divided out of 1, 115, 128. Addition to 1, 006, 523. Heading G1U. An apparatus for measuring high frequency constants of a material by the resonance method claimed in Specification 1, 006, 523 consists of a waveguide 11 open at an end having a metal flange 12, with a signal generator and signal receiver both coupled at 14 to the waveguide. The material 10 whose characteristics are to be measured is placed between the flange 12 and a metal reflective backing 13 and the signal detected by the receiver relative to that transmitted by the generator indicates the required characteristic at the generator frequency. The waveguide has a cut off frequency higher than the test frequency range, so that it attenuates signals transmitted along it, and may be open at the end Z, or may be suitably terminated. The flange 12 and backing 13 may be curved.
