Abstract
803,056. Moulds for branched fibrous cement pipes. CAOLITA S. A. July 24, 1956 [July 28, 1955], No. 22837/56. Class 87(2). A mould for a branched fibrous cement pipe comprises a split female mould 15, 16 and a core. of separate detachable parts A, B, C, each part having an inflatable rubber tube surrounding a solid body, the main part A having hollows 6 adapted to receive projections 11 on the ends of the supplementary parts B, C. Inflation of the tubes moulds the pipes against the female mould and subsequent deflation renders easy the removal of the core parts from the moulded pipe. The hollows 6 in a wooden body 1 of the main part A are lined with the rubber tube 2, the projections 11 on the wooden bodies 7 of the supplementary parts B, C are covered with the rubber tube 8. In operation a fibrous cement sheet 12 is wrapped round the main core A, abutting edges beaten together to form a tube and two holes, the shape of the join with the branches, cut in the sheet 12 over the hollows 6. Similarly sheets 13, 14 are wrapped and beaten around the supplementary cores B, C. The cores A, B, C are then assembled, the connecting joints of the fibrous cement sheets 12, 13, 14 beaten to unite them, the assembly is then placed in the female mould 15, 16, the mould secured and the cores inflated to mould the pipe. Holes are provided in the mould (not shown) for the escape of water contained in the fibrous cement.
