Abstract
932,628. Expansible moulding cores. MARLEY CONCRETE Ltd. May 22, 1962 [May 30, 1961], No. 19456/61. Class 87(2). An expansible and contractible core consists of two rigid members 10, 11 between which are inflatable tubes connected to a supply of fluid under pressure by pipe 16 and union 17. The members 10, 11 are connected together by springs used to urge the members together when the tubes are deflated. Preferably the tubes are enclosed within flexible sheaths 14 and are connected by web 15 which retains the tubes between the arcuate parts of plates 10, 11. Abutments 29, or, in a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), metal plates attached to the web 15, are used to urge the inflated tubes and sheaths outwardly from each other to resist the pressure of the moulded material. Hollow sockets 21, fixed to the lower member 11, enclose heads 23 of plungers 24, which are fixed to the upper member 10 to restrict the separation of members 10, 11 to a predetermined limit. The core may be removed from the concrete by means of a chain bridle 27 connected by bolts 28 to the core.
