Abstract

250,727. Nose, T. March 9, 1925. Moulding conduits in situ. - Culverts are moulded in situ by the use of a flexible core comprising an outer elastic portion 2 smaller in diameter than the bore to be formed, and a separate flexible inextensible portion 4, 5 slightly larger in diameter when inflated than the outer portion; after casting the inner portion is deflated and the outer portion contracts from the concrete and is easily withdrawn. The outer portion may be of rubber and the inner portion of rubberized canvas, leather, or the like, and strips of bamboo or the like may be placed between the outer and inner layers of the inner member when the culvert is straight. The core may be supported between crossed wires 8 which form the reinforcement for the culvert or between adjustable clamping members 12 in frames 7, 9, Fig. 5, which are removed as the casting proceeds.
