Abstract
802,296. Drying machines. DUNGLER, J. July 23, 1956 [July 28, 1955], No. 22678/56. Addition to 773,606. Class 34(1) In apparatus for drying strip material, the strip a is passed between opposed sets of nozzles 4 separated by discharge channels 5 in which are arranged hollow radiant heating elements 6 through which is circulated a heating fluid such as steam. A drying fluid such as superheated steam blown through the nozzles 4 by fans 3 on to the strip passes into the discharge channels 5 through passages 13 in the elements 6 in which it is heated, and is then recirculated. In a modification, Fig. 5, (not shown), the radiant elements comprise perforated plates having pipes welded to them through which the heating fluid is circulated. In a further modification, Fig. 7 (not shown), the radiant elements are arranged in recesses between the nozzles 4. The radiant elements may also be heated by electric resistances.
