Abstract
802,278. Adjusting bearings. SYKES, A. E. Nov. 26, 1956 [Nov. 25, 1955], No. 33827/55. Class 12 (1). [Also in Group XXIV] A split bearing bush 59 engaging a shaft 58 is adapted to be adjusted relative to its housing 65 by pressure fluid admitted through pipes 66 to behind a distortable sleeve 62 fitting around the half-bushes 59. Collars 60 on the shaft also engage distortable rings 64 on end thrust rings 63 on the housing and pressure fluid is supplied behind the rings 64 by pipes 67. The sleeve 62 and rings 64 are sealed at their edges to the supporting housing or rings. The distortable sleeve and rings could be arranged on the rotatable shaft 58 instead of on the stationary housing.
