801,945. Cutting-machines. BENTLEY, R. B. June 8, 1956 [June 23, 1955], No. 17751/56. Class 31 (1). [Also in Group XVII] A machine for banding bunches of sticks of celery &c. (see Group XVII) has a knife blade 43 incorporated in each limb of the upper of two star-wheels 35, 37 which seal the banding tapes together behind each bunch. Each knife is projected to cut the tapes by a lever 55, pivoted at 53 to the wheel 35, and spring 58. Each lever 55 has a roller running on a fixed snail cam 57, the cam providing a sharp radial drop enabling the lever end to be drawn rapidly inwards by the spring causing the knife to make its cutting stroke.
