Class 82(2) A sink-float separator comprises a rotating open type drum 8 closed over the lowest portion of its periphery by a conveyer belt 1 to form a heavy liquid pool into which the unclassified material is inproduced through an axial aperture, the peripheral speed of the drum being equal to the speed of the belt. The floating material is discharged over a weir (not shown) in the opening 13 and the sinks are elevated by vanes 10 and the belt 1 and discharged at 20.
