Class 64(2) [Also in Group XXIX] A thermostatically controlled steam trap comprises a chamber 16, Fig. 2, with inlets 20, 22 and outlets 36, 38 and a valve assembly comprising a pivoted member 50, a float 70 secured to the member 50 at a point remote from the pivot 53 and a thermally responsive element 80 secured at spaced points to the member 50 and to a valve 90 adapted to engage a seat 34, whereby the element 80 under varying temperature conditions causes movement of the valve 90 towards and away from the seat while the float 70 under accumulation of condensate moves the valve away from the seat regardless of. temperature conditions. The element 80 is connected to the valve 90 in the manner described in Specification 737,936 and has its valve closing movement restricted by an extension 56, Fig. 4, on the member 50 which is also provided with a stop 59 to limit its movement in one direction. When steam enters the chamber 16 through a filter 24 the element 80 closes the valve 90 as shown in Fig. 2. The entry of cool condensate causes the element 80 to open the valve while an accumulation of condensate at steam temperature lifts the float 70 and hence causes the valve to open despite the action of the element 80. The latter may be a single or multisegment type. In a modified construction, it is replaced by a bellows 180, Fig. 7, interposed between one end of the pivoted member 150 and a rectangular frame 184 secured to the valve 193.
