799,694. Tractor winches. BOUGHTON, T. T., and BOUGHTON & SONS, Ltd., T. T. Nov. 30, 1956 [Nov. 30, 1955], No. 34298/55. Class 78 (5). Winch drum 12 secured to the rear of tractor T is driven from power-take-off shaft 13 through gearing 19, 17, 16, 15, the gear 17 being fitted with the brake shown in Fig. 3. In Fig. 3, gear 17 is braked by plate 44, which is resiliently biased at 50 and is rotated by handle 54 so that the wedges 51, 52, 53 (Fig. 4) formed thereon rotate against similar wedges fixed on fixed plate 48 to force plate 44 outwards to the right against gear 17 so as to brake it, the wedge surfaces sloping such as to increase the braking effect in the direction of lowering of load.
