Class 44 [Also in Group XIV] A support for sign boards &c. comprises spaced resilient legs each secured to one of a pair of co-operating clamping members urged to clasp the sign board by the spring action of the legs. As shown, a supporting fork 1, having resilient legs 2, 3, is mounted on a carrier, such as the door of a vehicle, by a plate 7, a cross bar 5 being provided if it is desired to prevent pivotal movement of the fork relatively to the carrier. Conical pins 9, 10 are inserted, under pressure from the legs, in eyes 12, 13 secured one to each member 22, 23 of a clamp 14. The pins 9, 10 have threaded outer ends and nuts 11 and washers 15 hold the clamp in adjusted angular position relatively to the fork 1. The clamping members 22, 23 are interconnected by U-shaped links 25 the limbs of which form pivot pins on which the clamp opens when the legs 2, 3 are pressed towards each other. In modifications, the clamping members are curved or sinuous and are of any desired cross-section the mating surfaces being corrugated or grooved to receive the frame of a sign board. The ends of members 22, 23 may have bores 31 to receive arms supporting a sign in the form of an endless band and locking pins 35 adjustable by a key to press on the links 25 and retain the clamp in open or closed position.
