799,420. Door locks. FORD MOTOR CO., Ltd. May 9, 1956 [May 20, 1955], No. 14366/56. Class 44. A motor vehicle door lock comprises a toothed rotor 36 mounted on the door and co-operating with teeth 31 on a keeper 14, the keeper 14 having a bearing plate 16 the cam edge 33 of which co-operates with a hardened sleeve 47 on the rotor shaft so that as the door is closed the sleeve 47 rides up cam 33 to relieve vertical loading on the teeth of the rotor and keeper and so reduce wear on the teeth. A spring loaded wedge 17 slidably mounted on a pin 28 in a recess 27 of the keeper co-operates with a semi-cylindrical sheet metal housing 48, which envelops the upper half of the rotor, to take up play in the vertical direction. The bearing plate 16 overlaps some of the rotor teeth 37 in the closed position to limit the relative axial movement between the rotor 36 and the keeper 14.
