767,818. Latches. ESSOR MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd. March 19, 1954 [March 19, 1953], No. 7570/53. Class 44. A gravity-actuated latch has a catch piece 6 pivotally mounted about a transverse axis on a plate 1 by means of a pillar 5 having an upturned end 7 entering a recess 13 in the catch piece, the transverse axis being located between the centre of gravity of the catch piece and a finger piece 9 which is provided at one end, the other end having at least one lateral projection 8 engageable with a keeper plate 3. The projection 8 may extend on both sides of the catch piece 6 and is formed with a convex face 8a, of a radius not less than the greatest dimension of the cross-section, which rides over a corresponding convex nose 11 on the keeper plate 2. Shoulders 12 at the base of pillar 5 limit the angular movement of the catch piece 6.
